The Pursuit is On: GAfPA Launches the Global Remission Coalition

On May 21st in Geneva, alongside the World Health Assembly, the Global Remission Coalition (GRC) was officially launched with the declaration: “The Pursuit is On.”

The coalition builds on the Global Alliance for Patient Access (GAfPA)’s ongoing efforts to elevate the value of pursuing remission in chronic inflammatory conditions. GAfPA has partnered with more than 30 patient advocacy organizations representing individuals living with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and lupus. Together, they aim to spotlight both the burden of these chronic non-communicable diseases and the transformative potential of achieving remission.

As noted by three co-founders of the GRC in a Devex opinion-editorial:

“Treat-to-remission care offers patients, clinicians, and public health care systems around the world the elimination of chronic inflammatory disease symptoms – and their related personal, social, and economic costs.”

The Global Remission Coalition brings together patient advocacy groups, medical societies, and clinical experts from around the world. Its mission is to overcome critical barriers to remission by promoting early diagnosis, access to advanced treatments, and holistic, patient-centered care.
